Lead 2030 Challenge Winner
We are happy to report that Smart Cheli has won the One Young World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 4, which was sponsored by Bristol Myers Squibb. This prestigious prize focuses on addressing gender inequities, which is at the heart of our efforts. Smart Cheli, the Lead2030 Challenge winner, will earn $50,000 and 12 months of professional mentorship. This crucial contribution will allow us to accelerate our work to close the gender gap in STEM, ensuring that more girls have the opportunity to pursue careers in these critical fields.
Scratch Education Collaborative Global Partner
The Scratch Foundation has welcomed Smart Cheli to become a global partner in the Scratch Education Collaborative (SEC)’s 2022-2024 Cohort. This collaboration is a key milestone for Smart Cheli because it positions us to help define the direction of worldwide efforts to increase access and possibilities for equity-centered creative coding. We hope to have a long-term effect by collaborating with the Scratch Foundation and other partners to open doors for underrepresented groups in the technology industry.
The Pratt & Whitney Global E-STEM Award
The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) named Smart Cheli the winner of the 2023 Pratt & Whitney Global E-STEM Awards. A panel of judges from Pratt & Whitney and NAAEE chose the winners from a pool of over 150 candidates from 40 countries. The winners were announced publicly on October 17 during the NAAEE Annual Conference.
Youth Digital Champions
Our Program Director has been named one of the gold medalists for YOUTH DIGITAL CHAMPIONS (YDC) by the Mobiles for Education Alliance in honor of International Youth Day 2021. The Youth Digital Champions initiative was launched to capitalize on young people’s enthusiasm and passion for digital technology in order to strengthen community development and self-reliance efforts in low-resource and developing countries.
Science Outreach ShortlistÂ
Shortlist for Science Outreach and Nature’s Inspiring Women in Science Award In September 2021, we were named one of the top five global programs for the Inspiring Women in Science Award by Nature in the science outreach category. During this program, Estee Laude and the Nature team mentored us for six weeks on Authentic Leadership, Networking, and Personal Branding.
