Students create their own foamy potion using baking soda, vinegar, dish soap, and food coloring. They predict what will happen when the ingredients mix, imagine how their potion will look, then build it step by step and test what changes when they use less or more vinegar, baking soda, or dish soap. Along the way, they discover how baking soda and vinegar make carbon dioxide gas and how dish soap traps it in bubbles to form thick foam, a hands-on lesson in chemical reactions and trapped gases.
